Our standard chaperone— with a twist!

Period images, especially those in the manuscript of the Decameron made for Philip le Bon 1430-40 (Bibliotheque de l'Arsenal, Paris, Ms. 5070) depict hoods and chaperones worn in a wide variety of inventive ways.

A style that pops up repeatedly shows the dagged cockscomb arranged to fall over the roll, resembling a head of lettuce. We’ve recreated the look in the way we’ve cut and arranged the cockscomb to fall in the same way.

The chaperone has a liripipe which can be allowed to hang, wrapped around the roll, or used to add volume to the top of the hat.

A statement hat for the ages, when you want to walk into a room and be noticed! This hat requires panache, exceptional amounts of self confidence and a tremendous amount of humour!

”Man walks down the street wearing a hat like that, you know he’s not afraid of anything”- Jayne Cobb
