Based on a boy's shirt of 1540 in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, (Museum number: T.112-1972). Similar shirts can be seen in collections around the world, including the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the Museo del Tessuto, Prato, Italy.

This shirt is of a very common early 16th C. style, and is well documeted in Hans Holbein's work. This style was most popular between 1535-1555.

Front slit with narrow ruffle on neck band, wider ruffle on wrist band. Small button at wrist, hand plied cord tie at neck. Fingertip length. Fine ivory linen available with black edged ruffles like the original or white edge. Plain neck and wrist bands are ready for your own blackwork or other embellishments. No visible exterior machine stitching. 


One size fits up to 48" chest, 17" neck.
