Smock, Ladies', 14th-15th Century

This smock is based on 14th and 15th century illustrations of women in their underclothing, one of which is the illustrated volume of the "Decameron" c. 1430 - 1440 owned by Philip the Good of Burgundy. The cut echoes that of the "Bocksten" tunic (1350) and other mid-late 14th century garments. Long tubular sleeves with underarm gusset, and large gored skirt to make an overgown hang correctly.

This smock is shaped to fit beneath our Ladies' 15th century Gown and Herjolfsnes "G39" Gown and would serve equally well under any overgown with a fitted bodice, deep scoop neckline, and full skirt. No visible external machine stitching.
