Chausses, Wool, pair (MADE TO ORDER)

Single leg hose can be seen in artwork from the 13th (Maciejowski Bible, image above), 14th (Tres Riches Heures) and early 15th (Mantegna) centuries. Worn laced to our 13th or 14th century braies or belt, these versatile leggings may be worn rolled down to knee or ankle in hot weather.

Pattern is a variation from hose fragments found at Baynards Castle Dock. The attached foot has been redesigned to remove the underfoot seams. Simple laces are included.

These chausses will be CUSTOM MADE to your measurements in fine American new wool.  You may select from the nearly 50 beautiful colours offered by our mill, and the pattern will be cut to the measurements you provide. Please provide the following information in the Comments section when you place your order:

• Thigh, circumference around fullest part high on the leg
• Calf - around fullest part
• Floor to middle of knee, barefoot
• Floor to high in crotch, barefoot
• Shoe size
• Choose your wool colour here and note your choice in the 'comments' section of the order form
