This value priced package gives you the basic garments for a mid-status impression circa 1340-1380. Package contains a shirt, braies (underpants), leg coverings called chausses, and a tunic. All four garments are made of linen.

Outfit package includes a FREE pair of tied garters!

Shirt is based on the shirt of St. Louis (King Louis IX of France), which is preserved in Notre Dame, Paris. The original dates to 1250, and is said to be the oldest extant undergarment. Our shirt copies the cut of the original, and is made of fine white linen.

Simple, boxer style braies as seen in the Four Seasons of the House of Cerruti (“Barley”), Tacuinum Sanitatis (“Rye”) and other manuscripts of the 14th century.   Opaque linen with pairs of eyelets over the hips to suspend chausses.

Single leg hose called ‘chausses’  can be seen in artwork from the 13th (Maciejowski Bible), 14th (Tres Riches Heures) and early 15th (Mantegna) centuries. Worn laced to the braies or a belt, these versatile leggings may be worn rolled down to knee or ankle in hot weather.

Pattern is a variation of the Bocksten man's hosen and from hose fragments found at Baynards Castle Dock. The attached foot has been redesigned to remove the underfoot seams. Simple laces are included.

The tunic is patterned on the clothing worn by the ‘Bocksten Man’,  the remains of a medieval male body found in a bog in Varberg Municipality, Sweden in 1936. It is one of the best-preserved finds in Europe from that era.  In 2006 the find was thoroughly examined and interpreted, and a full scale reconstruction of what the Bocksten man might have looked like in life accompanies the exhibit of the remains.

This tunic has a tubular torso, and the lower edge is full due to gores inserted into the center front and back. The sleeves are tubular and fabric removed from the wrist to shape the sleeve forms a gusset under the arm for good fit and freedom of movement.

All garments are made if high quality linen, expertly cut and professionally sewn for a polished look and long life.  All are based on extant garments and/or period artwork and have no visible machine stitching.

BONUS- We'll include a pair of tied garters FREE with each package purchase. Garters add a bit of dash to your outfit as well as keeping the chausses smooth on the leg.  They also allow the chausses to be worn rolled to the knee in hot weather.

$244.80 if purchased separately.  Save $19.85 when you purchase the package -and- receive a pair of tied garters FREE!

Model is shown wearing a medieval felt hat which is not included in this outfit.
