Copied from an armour chest, c. 14th C. in the Burrell Collection, Glasgow City Museums. Suitable for larger or heavy chests, the loop between the ring and staple allows the chest to be transported by means of a pole inserted into the ring, and carried by 2 people. Smaller chests would have a fixture in each end; larger chests would have 2 on each side and be carried like a litter.

Each ring and staple has been hand forged. The ring is affixed by means of the staple, which is driven through the wall of the chest, and the protruding points clinched over.

Specifications:
Ring: 3 5/8" outside diameter, twisted 1/4" stock
Loop: 5 1/2" long, 1/4" stock
Staple: 1" wide x 4 1/2" long, 1/4" stock (will accommodate up to 2" thick lumber)
