Vambraces, Italian, circa 1380, Spring Steel

$845.00

Based on arm pieces in Castle Churburg, inventory #'s 22 and 54, of Italian manufacture, circa 1380. Pieces like these were exported throughout Europe and were used by men-at-arms, light cavalry and well-off footsoldiers.

These articulated vambraces consist of a tulip-shaped lower cannon pivoted on one lame, a mildly pointed elbow cop, one upper lame, then the upper cannon which terminates in a narrow outward roll. All pieces are fully hand hammer-shaped in our California workshop, with a bright polished finish. Spring steel vambraces are heat treated.

All of our armour is supplied fully strapped with historically correct buckles. The lower cannons buckle closed, and there are straps at both the elbow and upper cannon. We also include a strip riveted to the upper edge of the rerebrace for pointing to your arming coat.

Spring steel thickness:
.062" (1.5mm) cops, .042" (.75mm) cannons & lames.
