Tournament of the Phoenix 2010

On October 22, 23, 24, 2010 the Poway Rodeo Grounds will be transformed into a scene from 'A Knight's Tale' as eight armoured knights from across the globe meet for an international competition. The weekend-long event of Jousting and Combat is The Tournament of the Phoenix and is sanctioned by England's Royal Armouries Museum-Leeds and the International Jousting League.

The Tournament
The eight competitors will accumulate points as they battle it out in a 2 day, 6 event competitive tournament. The tournament will test the combatants' prowess and stamina as they pit themselves against each other in foot combat with axes, mounted melee, and jousting.

The field will be held by 2009's champions "The Order of the Crescent". The Crescent is captained by thirty-five year Ramona resident Jeffrey Hedgecock, who, along with teammates Dominic Sewell and Dr. Tobias Capwell of England, will hold the field against five challengers hailing from Canada, Germany, Holland, New Zealand and Poland.

Please note: Nothing is staged. Our competitors are professional athletes representing their home countries.  Published schedule is approximate and subject to change with regard to the health and safety of the horses and competitors. Your understanding in the event of a change is appreciated.

The Festival of History
The event also showcases the "Festival of History", where over one hundred members of the southwest's premier Living History associations will present a living time line of history spanning Rome through the European Renaissance. A medieval bagpipe band lends to the festive atmosphere as they perform throughout the day. 'Hands on History' activities for all ages, vendors offering a range of goods, and delicious food assure a day full of fun and enjoyment for event goers.

Discounts are available for advance ticket purchase and for weekend & family packages.
Preview admission is included with any weekend ticket purchase.
Groups must be arranged in advance- no groups will be ticketed at the gate.
