Book, Azincourt and daily life in 1415

On October 25, 1415, the English army defeated the French host at Agincourt against crushing odds. It was a disaster for the French, and probably one of the best documented battles of the  Hundred Years War thanks to the 29 chronicles of the battle which survive. 

The book’s initial chapters belong to Christophe Gilliot, curator of the Medieval Historical Centre at Agincourt, who describes the topography of the countryside which was intrumental in achieving Henry V’s victory. This first part is accompanied by a representation of the daily life of both man at arms and commoner in 1415.  One will find details here on  the arms, armour and equipment of a man of arms, as well as the daily life of the population in the area of Agincourt at the time of the battle, brought to life by by the Company of Saint Martin. The final chapter is devoted to the heraldic blazons of the approximately sixty French knights who were killed at Agincourt.
