Sugar Cone

These cones are made from from sugar cane that has been hand cut and crushed mechanically to extract the pure sugar cane juice. The juice is then heated to reduce its water content, and the resulting thick syrup is poured into cone-shaped molds to dry. The sugar is minimally processed and unadulterated. It has no added molasses or chemicals, and contains all the minerals and vitamins inherently present in sugarcane juice.

The sugar can be chopped, shaved or grated for use in any recipe that calls for sugar. The cone should be kept dry and tightly wrapped.

In the "Book of the Wares and Usages of Diverse Contries", an Italian writing in Ragusa in 1458 AD, advised- "Rock Candy ought to be white, glistening, coarse, dry, and clean. Loaf sugar ought to be white, dry, and a well compact paste, and it's powder ought to be large and granulated."

These cones are probably a bit smaller and less refined than high quality medieval sugar, but we think they give a better impression than modern white sugar at events.

Due to the handmade nature of this product cones will vary slightly in size and weight.
