Badge, Secular, Longbowman, 14th-early 15th century

The original from which this badge is copied was found in Canterbury, while a number of similar badges have been found in London and in Europe. The badge is likely to relate to the high esteem in which archery was held at this time, both as a pastime and as a fearsome weapon of war.

Please note: This badge is fitted with a modern tie-type pin and clutch which will not mar clothing. Pin cannot be seen when the badge is afixed to clothing or hat.
