Badge, Secular, Longbow, 15th century

The meaning of this badge is unclear. It may proclaim its wearer’s interest or proficiency in archery. Alternatively, it may be a lover’s token, as the bow and arrow were a popular medieval symbol of male virility! Copied from an original found in Salisbury.

Please note: This badge is fitted with a modern tie-type pin and clutch which will not mar clothing. Pin cannot be seen when the badge is afixed to clothing or hat.
