I have two of these gowns, and I love them. You say these were worn up into the early 15th century, however, in general style it is very similar to the gown shown on the cover of THE KING'S SERVANTS: MEN'S DRESS AT THE ACCESSION OF HENRY VIII by Caroline Johnson. My only criticism is that the gown tends to open up below the buttons. Some hidden pieces of velcro solved that problem.
