Thimble ring

Metal 'sewing rings' (thimbles) appear in Europe sometime after the 9th century AD., and MoL # 814 is among the earliest firmly dated examples in England. An invaluable tool for anyone who does hand stitching, our sewing ring is handmade of sheet brass after examples dated to 1270-1400 in the Museum of London's "The Medieval Household- Medieval Finds from Excavations in London" (#816, #818). A thimbler displaying open sewing rings as well as domed thimbles in the Mendel Hausbuch.

Our reproductions are individually hand made from brass in a medium size.
