Hood, Embellished, Blue Wool

Hoods with embellished mantles appear throughout the middle years of the 14th C. in manuscripts such as the Romance of Alexander (MS. Bodl. 264) and the works of Guillaume de Machaut (BnF FR 1584 fol 91v).  Although the manuscripts show a nearly infinite variety of individual interpretations of the style, embellishment above a dagged edge and detailing above a solid contrasting edge appear most frequently. The tails on these fashionable hoods are also extraordinarily thin and long.

Taking inspiration from one of the dancers in the 'Oeuvre poetique' manuscript of Guillaume de Machaut (1355-60), we've added embellishment above the dagged edge of our hood, and made the liripipe tail very narrow and extremely long.

Blue wool hood with blue/black/gold applied trim detail as shown. Long narrow liripipe/tail.

(Please note: The applied trim approximates the look of embroidery and will not meet the authenticity standards of the most stringent groups.)
