Hat, Medieval Felt, 13th-15th Century

This versatile hat can be worn any number of ways. Turn the brim up in front, on the side, in back, or add a feather or pilgrim badge, trim it to shape- the possibilities are nearly endless!  Simply shaped 'bucket' hats of felt  were popular with the laboring classes and soldiers, while fantastically shaped, trimmed and finished hats were popular with stylish men of means. Both simple and tailored hats can be seen in virtually all period sources.

These hats are from a different supplier than the hat we used to carry, and are infinitely nicer.  They are hand made in the Czech Republic, not China. The felt is softer, the colours richer, and have larger and deeper shape which lends itself to a number of different styles. This is a great shape for blocking, and has plenty of brim to trim.
