Bascinet, Italian circa 1410

The helmet bowl is raised from one flat steel sheet with no welding. The visor began as a forge-welded steel cone (speculated to be a medieval technique), then was shaped by raising. The copper alloy trim is hand-engraved with latin mottoes with "wiggle-graved" background, based on the Churburg #13 helmet. Additional details include engraved outlining at occularium and mouth, and riveted mail aventail.

Mild steel, copper alloy.
