Magazine, ''Au Temps des Compagnies, de Philippe-Charles VIII''

There hasn’t been a publication like this since “The Medieval Soldier”, and in many ways these magazines far exceed TMS. Maps, a timeline and geneology charts begin your journey where the glossy paper and beautiful layout hint at what’s to come. As you turn the pages it’s like taking a crash course in reenactment as a comprehensive range of articles appear- making and wearing kit, money, trade and the economy, military structure, armour, weapons, historical sites of note, furniture, pottery, philosophy, heraldry, info on day to day living, religion, entertainment, recipes, music and more. Each article in brought to life by the host of gorgeous, full colour photographs of reenactors at historic sites, artifacts and reconstructions. Most articles have a bibliography for further reading, and many list appropriate suppliers. Each issue wraps up with a list of reeenactment groups and their respective contact information.

Published by the Association Pour L’Histoire Vivant (Association for Living History) in France, all text is in French. These were so beautiful and informative we knew even even non-French speakers would enjoy poring over the photos!
