Chest Hinge, Fleur de Lis, pair

Based on a German hinge dated to about 1500 in the collection of M. Peyre #898.1907. This hinge is cited in- “Ironwork- From the Earliest Times to the End of the Medieval Period” by J. Starkie Gardner, (V&A publication, 1927).

Each hinge has been fabricated by hand from 16 gauge mild steel, and oil blackened to reduce rust. The hinges should be affixed to a chest by clinch nails (not included). The hinge has been drilled with pilot holes to aid in nail placement.
