Couters, circa 1470, Spring Steel

These couters represent a very practical evolution in elbow protection favored by the English and Germans in the last third of the 15th century. Ours are based on examples in the Wallace Collection, London and in the Royal Armouries, Leeds. Although many surviving examples sport fluting and cusped edges, our couters are slightly simplified, allowing them to be worn with a variety of cannons and shoulder harness, but still retain the elegant and beautiful lines of "gothic" armour.

Invisibly welded of 3 pieces of 16 ga mild steel, then shaped and polished. Includes straps with historically correct bronze buckles.
