How do you make armour? |
|
Answer: |
| Armour is made by cutting flat steel plates of varying thicknesses according to special templates, then hammering those plates utilizing different special hammers and anvils (called “stakes”) into the many shapes required to cover the wearer’s body. After shaping, the plates are punched for rivets which allow the plates to pivot on each other, providing the necessary movement between the plates. After refining the shape of each plate and hammer-smoothing, all the plates are ground and polished and reassembled into the various components of the armour and straps and other hardware is attached, so the pieces can be held onto the wearer. |
