'Knytt netherstockes of worsted' and other legwear required garters to hold them up. Chausses often benefit from garters below the knee to keep them sleek and smooth over the calf. By the 1320s men's garters had become a conspicuous and colourful accessory and were often satirised in contemporary art.

Decorative, long-wearing, and authentic, hand woven wool braid garter material fastens with handmade pewter buckles. Finished with self fringe.
