Chest Hinge, Fleur de Lis, pair

Based on a German hinge dated to about 1500 in the collection of M. Peyre #898.1907. This hinge is cited in- “Ironwork- From the Earliest Times to the End of the Medieval Period” by J. Starkie Gardner, (V&A publication, 1927).

Each hinge has been fabricated by hand from 16 gauge mild steel, and oil blackened to reduce rust. The hinges are affixed to a chest by clinch nails (included). The hinge has been drilled with pilot holes to aid in nail placement.

Specifications:
-16 gauge mild steel.
-3-5/8" wide x 11" long top x 4" long back.
-1-1/2" wide hinge.
-hinge is 1" from bend.
