Brooch, Heart w/ stones, 14th century

During the 14th century the heart was the pre eminent symbol of love. Among the nobility heart shaped brooches of precious metals set with jewels were very popular, while for those of more humble status pewter versions, such as this, would have been equally popular. The artefact on which our replica is based was found in the Netherlands.
